Intake
“That intake was really great!” is something we have never heard. However, for your body to feel great we want to know the root causes of your body aches. What is a typical day like for you? What do you do for work? What injuries have you had? Are you doing anything to counter the daily grind? Help us help you for optimal results!
After your written intake the therapist will review it. They will then have a private discussion in your therapy room to cover anything else you need to share with them. Take us through a day in your life so we can turn back the clock on your body. The more information you can provide, the more we can help you heal.
Massage
Does this sound familiar?: Lay on a table, get slapped with a bunch of lotion, and use the same routine used last time and the time before . NOT AT AWAKEN FOR WELLNESS! Awaken for Wellness Practitioners are different. Our approach involves, first and foremost, an investment in you! You are important to us. We want to see progress and be a part of your health routine.
Expect a wide-ranging approach to your healing. From the intake, the therapist will customize bodywork session for you. Depending on your mutual goals, your therapist may use a combination of the most effective techniques; These techniques could involve stretching, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, and more. Not all of our therapists work the same, Awaken is dedicated to finding a fit for you!
Post-Massage
We believe everyone has one goal in common and that is to feel really good in our bodies; Free of tension and discomfort and able to enjoy the quality of life that we all deserve. We are here to help you get there, but we also believe that you need to invest your time and energy to keep yourself there.
After your session, we recommend drinking plenty of fluids. Massage moves a lot of blood flow and fluid around the body. Your muscles and skin layers have been squeezed of some of their fluid which can include toxins. After a good wring-out, your muscles act like a sponge and reabsorb blood which then is taken out of your blood stream. For the aforementioned reasons, you want to drink a lot of water to hydrate as well as detoxify.
Besides drinking plenty of water, you will generally receive suggestions for self-care techniques. A combination of stretches and possibly a gentle reminder of posture awareness. It is important to follow through for optimal results.
Schedule a follow up session! Telling yourself you will schedule after you leave is a great idea, but scheduling before you leave makes it a strong commitment to yourself. You can ask your therapist about recommended increments. Coming in weekly is not over-doing massage. You could be the next Bob Hope or George Burns and get a massage almost every day! It worked for them, they lived to be 100!
