Discover the Benefits of Massage

Massage therapy is a powerful approach to improving how your body performs, heals, and maintains balance. At Awaken for Wellness, massage is designed to be therapeutic and functional—helping you address the root causes of tension, pain, and imbalance.

Pain Relief & Reduced Muscle Tension

Massage helps release tight muscles, ease soreness, and manage pain. It’s especially effective for back pain, overuse injuries, and conditions that limit mobility, helping your body feel more comfortable and supported.

Stress Regulation & Nervous System Balance

Massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which triggers the "rest and digest" response to counteract the fight-or-flight stress mode, effectively lowering cortisol levels and enhancing relaxation.

Improved Circulation & Recovery

Massage naturally boosts circulation, supports lymphatic flow, and speeds up recovery. This helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues, clears waste more efficiently, and strengthens your body’s natural healing processes.

What To Expect

1. Arrival & Intake

When you arrive at Awaken for Wellness, you’ll complete a brief intake form and discuss your goals and any areas of tension or chronic pain with your massage therapist. This step ensures your session is customized—whether you need deep tissue work, relaxation massage, prenatal support, or recovery-focused bodywork.

2. Get Comfortable & Relax

Your therapist will make sure you feel comfortable before beginning, checking in about pressure preferences and any focus areas. You’re encouraged to relax fully, breathe deeply, and let your therapist know if adjustments are needed at any point during the session.

3. Targeted Massage Techniques

During your massage, your therapist will use tailored techniques—ranging from gentle Swedish strokes to firmer deep-tissue or structural bodywork—to ease muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. You’re encouraged to communicate your pressure preferences or any areas needing extra attention throughout the session.

4. Post-Session Integration

After your massage, you’ll have a few moments to transition off the table. Your therapist may provide suggestions for stretching, hydration, or follow-up self-care. Many clients report a feeling of lightness, reduced pain, improved mobility, and deeper mental calm. You can immediately resume your day with no downtime required.

Meet Our Highly-Skilled Massage Therapists!

Massage vs. Bodywork

You may be seeking out massage to relax. We are happy to offer you a relaxing massage. However, our bodywork sessions are designed to help restore your body back to balance which gives you far longer lasting effects than massage alone. The more you inform us about your aches, pains, and concerns the better we can develop a treatment plan customized to fit your specific needs. Not all of our therapists work the same, so let us know if your first session is not a perfect fit. We want to find a match for you!

Marcia

Since graduating from St. Paul Tech in 2007, I’ve dedicated my career to helping others as a massage therapist. I find immense joy in providing relief to my clients, not only through the skilled techniques I’ve honed over the years but also by nurturing the unique needs of each individual. My expertise spans a variety of massage modalities, including the SMRT Technique, trigger point therapy, therapeutic massage, rehabilitative therapy, sports massage, and addressing past injuries, chronic pain, and improving range of motion.

Erin

I graduated from Saint Paul College’s massage program in 2014 and studied deep tissue massage at Oregon School of Massage in Portland in the late ’90s. Additionally I earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 2010, majoring in Kinesiology and Biopsychology. I offer a range of therapeutic massages tailored to your needs—whether you’re seeking deep myofascial work for rehabilitation, a soothing relaxing massage, or something in between, I listen carefully to craft the perfect session for you. As a certified personal trainer, I bring added expertise to my massage practice, making me an ideal choice for athletes or anyone recovering from an injury.

TRish

I graduated from Aveda Institute Minneapolis, where I studied Massage Therapy in a program deeply rooted in Ayurvedic principles. I also earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Saint Cloud State University in 2017. My massage therapy training focused on Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, Reflexology, and Prenatal Massage. I often incorporate pin & stretch techniques to reduce tightness in fascia and increase the body’s range of motion. I aspire to help others heal with the therapeutic power of touch, by listening to understand, planting seeds of kindness, and working together as a team with clients to achieve harmony in the mind, body, and spirit. Outside of work, I am an Aunt who is obsessed with my darling nieces, a piano player who crochets from time to time, and a lover of nature.

In 2015, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (the scholarly study of human movement) at the University of Minnesota, because I wanted to become the best massage therapist I could be. That understanding of the human body has led me to a new approach in health and wellness. I believe in tailoring body work so that an individual’s unique needs are not only met, but surpassed. All of the different modalities in my wheelhouse will alleviate every day aches and pains, as well as chronic issues. I strive to provide a therapeutic and relaxing form of massage that will keep you doing what you love to do for a longer time. Modalities I provide include Sport Massage (pre & post event), Kinesio tape therapy, Cross- Friction, Myofascial Release, Acupressure (hand & feet), Trigger Point Therapy, Chakra and Reiki (energy) Healing, Sinus & Eye Inflammation Reduction Treatment, Shiatsu, Swedish, Hot Stone Therapy, Thai Massage & Stretching, Syntropy, Dry Cupping, and Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage. Massage therapy is relaxing for me because it places me in a meditative state of mind, bringing peace and joy to my life. In my service you will find a pause button from cell phones, and work and life related stressors. You will be investing in your own physical and mental wellness, as well as the experience to check into, or out of your body. After 26 years of being a professional massage therapist, I can honestly say that I have found a new respect and love for my craft. I would be honored to have you as a guest at Awaken for Wellness.

Danielle

I went to Aveda Arts and Science Institute to create a better future not just for myself, but for others around me. I quickly fell in love with massage therapy because of all the amazing people I meet and helping them achieve their health goals. I am most comfortable working with med-firm pressure, but I can do light or some firm elbow work. I’m a detailed person, and I will spend a full hour on just the legs if you let me. I enjoy doing 90 min massages and will offer 2 hour sessions for those who need it most. I am also a gymnastics coach and able to offer stretching during the massage session and will be more than happy to show some stretching techniques for at home care. I look forward to working with you!

Frequently asked questions

At Awaken for Wellness, we offer a wide range of massage styles, including Swedish, deep tissue, therapeutic, prenatal, hot stone, and structural bodywork. Each session is customized to your goals, whether that’s relaxation, pain relief, or recovery support.

It’s best to arrive a few minutes early, hydrate well, and wear comfortable clothing. You don’t need to do anything special—your therapist will guide you through the process and make sure you feel comfortable

No, you do not need to undress completely if you are not comfortable. Most people undress to their level of comfort—many choose to remove all clothing so the therapist can work without restrictions, while others leave on undergarments. You will always be properly draped with a sheet or blanket during your session, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered. Your comfort and privacy are our top priorities, so you may undress as much or as little as you prefer.

The ideal frequency depends on your goals. For general relaxation, once or twice a month may be sufficient. For chronic pain, injuries, or stress management, weekly or bi-weekly sessions can provide deeper, longer-lasting benefits.

Massage is safe for most people, but it may not be recommended if you have open wounds, contagious illnesses, blood clots, or certain health conditions. Always consult your doctor if you have concerns, and let your therapist know about any medical issues before your session.
